US renewables company SunEdison Inc considers to invest $480 million (EUR 422m) in four photovoltaic power plants in southern Peru, depending on the next renewable energy auction of the country, daily Gestion said on Monday.
The projects are located in Ica, Arequipa and Tacna regions which have an estimated capacity of between 50 MW and 100 MW each.
According to Alejandro Erazo, development director for Chile and Peru, the exact investments, however, will depend on the solar power supplies and other terms the government will set for the auction.
In May, SunEdison announced the acquisition of Latin American Power (LAP), including 73 MW in six operating hydropower plants and a 48-MW development-stage hydropower project in Peru.
