Chile’s environmental committee for the Metropolitan region of Santiago has approved the 117-MW Quilapilun solar project ofÂ Inversiones y Servicios SunEdison Chile Ltda, local consultancy SGA, which managed the environmentalÂ studies, said on Wednesday.
The USD-256-million (EUR 226.2m) project will be developed in the Colina municipality with an installed capacity of 127.94 MWp in direct current (DC). The facility will be connected to the network.
This week Inversiones y Servicios SunEdison has presented a plan for construction of a 51-MW solar park in the same region. The Chilean unit of US renewables majorÂ SunEdison Inc already has three operating photovoltaic parks and is building aÂ fourth one to completeÂ nearly 300 MW installed in the country.
